Natural Stone Bathroom Floor Tile
A natural stone bathroom floor feels solid and looks timeless. The right finish and format matter more on a floor than on a wall, because the surface gets wet and walked on. This page helps you choose and links to matching tile, mosaics and trim.
Choose a finish with grip
Honed, tumbled and brushed finishes are usually better underfoot in a bathroom than polished, which can be slippery when wet. Browse honed and tumbled tile, and read how the finishes differ.
Choose a format
- Floor and wall tile in sizes such as 4x4, 6x6, 12x12 and 12x24 for open floors. Fewer joints give a calm, continuous look.
- Hexagon mosaics, basketweave and square mosaics for small floors, where the many grout lines add grip.
- Borders and listellos for a framed look.
Choose a stone
Travertine in honed or tumbled finish is a warm, popular floor choice, in Ivory, Noce or Scabos. Marble gives a lighter, classic look: try honed White Carrara. See the color guide for more.
Finish the room
Add matching baseboard where the floor meets the wall. The trim guide shows the options.
Plan, seal and care
- Measure the room and use the tile calculator. Plan for about 10 percent extra, or more for diagonal and herringbone layouts.
- Order a sample and check it wet and dry.
- Seal the tile and grout. See how to seal marble tile.
- Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner. See how to clean marble floors and stone care.
