Anaheim Kitchen and Bath Remodel: A Natural Stone Tile Checklist
Share
A tile order goes wrong in predictable ways: not enough boxes, a batch that does not match, forgotten trim, or heavy pallets arriving before anyone is ready. This checklist walks through a kitchen or bathroom remodel in Anaheim or Orange County, from the first measurement to the last box. Print it, or keep it on your phone when you shop.
1. Measure and set a budget
- Measure each surface in feet: length times width gives square feet. Do floors, walls, niches and the backsplash separately.
- Add about 10% for cuts, or 15% for diagonal and herringbone layouts.
- Use our how much tile guide for patterns and mosaics, which need more waste.
2. Choose the stone
- Narrow by color with the stone color guide.
- Decide the finish: honed, polished or tumbled. For wet floors, avoid very glossy surfaces.
- Compare marble and travertine for the room.
3. Order samples
Stone varies. Order samples and put them next to your cabinets, counters and paint, then look at them in morning and evening light. A few days with samples prevents most regrets.
4. Plan the trim and transitions
Tile leaves raw edges at the top of a backsplash, around a niche and along the floor. Pencil trim, chair rail and baseboard finish them in the same stone. See the trim guide. Do not forget stone switch plates for a backsplash wall.
5. Buy it all in one order
Natural stone changes from lot to lot. Order tile, mosaic and trim for the whole room together, and keep one spare box. If you want help with quantities, send your list to our project quote page.
6. Decide how it gets to you
- Shipping: free anywhere in the US, with freight for large orders. We call before a freight delivery to confirm the address and access.
- Pickup in Anaheim: good for top-up orders and heavy boxes you would rather move yourself. See how pickup works.
7. Inspect before the installer starts
Open the boxes, check the stone and finish against your sample, and report any issue before tile is set. Installed tile is much harder to return. Our return policy explains your 30 days.
8. Seal and protect
Most natural stone needs sealing after installation, and again from time to time. Ask your installer about grout and sealer, and read our stone care guide.
